Ramblings from Chicago

27 January, 2005

laughed my ass off today :-)

we had that dumb talent show tonight, but it actually turned out to be quite good! the range of talents was amazing and hysterical. here are some examples:

1. my friend becca and our director of training (margaret) did a duet for which margaret played "are you lonesome tonight" by elvis on the recorder while becca sang the words in a horrendous opera voice. i laughed so hard that i cried!

2. becca also did a duet with the executive assistant. they whistled "eye of the tiger"

3. the housing specialist balanced two forks on top of a toothpick that was wedged into a hole in the top of a salt shaker

4. the associate director read dr suess stories in a kooky high-pitched granny voice

5. the assistant chef trainer played a hand drum. she is awesome!

6. a client played the acoustic guitar and sang two really good songs that he wrote

7. the volunteer coordinator read a poem in french

i was supposed to read some extraordinarily bad, but funny poetry, but i was back at the doctor today because of that horrible sore throat that i have had now for 26 feckin' days! she thinks that i might have mono. UGH! she gave me a Z-pak, though, which might do the trick.

anyway, the talent show was a great laugh, which we all needed - especially the clinical services team. we have been working on a huge report for HUD this week and were nearly mad by 5:00.

going to finish some work now and play a game before bed. thank god tomorrow's friday :-)
