wretched sodding weather!
we chicagoans (still a little wierd to call myself that) have done a fairly good job of digging ourselves out from under the massive amount of snow that mother nature dumped on us last week. it snowed, and snowed, and snowed for days - nonstop. we also had skin-slicing wind coming off of the lake, and frigid temperatures. today, the main roads are finally clear, and the temperature is up a bit, so the snow has started to melt. actually, it started to melt yesterday during the whopping 1 hour of sunlight that we had, but then the temps dropped again, and it all froze. thus, the melting that is happening today is really a re-melting of yesterday's slop. don't ever believe anyone who tells you that chicago winters are not that bad. they are horrible! and from what i have heard from native chicagoans, it is only going to get worse. february is the worst month, they say.
ventured out of the house for the first time in six days yesterday (not counting the trip to the hospital). we went for soup at panera and then took a walk to the video store, which resulted in choosing some really bad movies. "wicker park" is a waste of money (so disappointing! movies are always set in NYC or LA - boring - and i was excited to see a good thriller set in chicago, but it was crap). we also rented "open water", and it was dumb too. am going to watch "little black book" today. do not have high hopes for it, but it might surprise me. i hope it surprises me.
anyway, i was going crazy in the house, so i decided to try to go out, but i think it might have been a mistake. i feel a little worse today - more congestion, and i am exhausted. this sickness refuses to go away. i am miserable :-( am going back to work tomorrow, and i hope that i will feel well enough to get through the day.
signing off now. i need my bed and my blankie. more later.

So glad that you are feeling better!!!
(and sorry to hear about the weather--ugh...to rub it in, it was sunny and 50 today, unseasonably wonderful!)
We rented Napoleon Dynamite and Garden State--movies friends have raved about and they were kind of duds, too (we thought).
Hope you continue to get well and can ease back into work!
